Cauchemar
In her early short video 'Cauchemar' Marie Sutter explores the notion and meaning of dreams. In her early years, Sutter has experienced insomnia which affected her ability function during the day. After several sleepless nights, her body started to create these images and she experienced what is called by Freud's theory, a 'Defense Mechanisms'. She started having the same dream on and on. Sutter decided to combine these different dreams in three stories. She filmed herself in a dark, in a black room. She speaks without emotion and shows no facial expression, in contrast to the emotional outpouring of words.
