The Eternal Triptych
In her video installation "The Eternal Triptych", Marie Sutter explores the notion of taboo. After writing her thesis for her BA in Zürich she decided to visualize her research into her installation, that she showed at her degree show at the ZHdK. Later on, she wanted to put this theme and her ideas into filmic form, to find beauty within the image constructions. She presented a short-film taken in one shot with herself as the subject. Using a black background and two intense lights on her face, blue-green and red-orange, She wanted to represent a motel-light and a dramatic atmosphere. With the theme of sexual violence, rapes and humiliation, she researches the unspoken desire between the victims, the audience and the perpetrators. Using an environmental sound and her voice-over, she explores the intensity of the emotions created.
